Flavour profile & Process

A washed Kenyan lot from Rugeju Coffee Factory in South Imenti. Tangerine leads, blackberry gives depth and a sherbet-like finish keeps the cup bright.

Sourcing with Care

The endless pursuit of great coffee

Rugeju Coffee Factory is part of the Mikumbune Farmers Cooperative in Meru County. The five-acre site has processed coffee for smallholders from six nearby villages since the 1970s.

The farms sit in volcanic soil under shade trees such as macadamia and Grevillea. The cooperative handles the coffee from weighing through grading, offers pre-financing to farmers and manages wastewater through soak pits. Ripe fruit, careful washing and even drying give this lot its clean, juicy finish.

The Making of Great Taste

All about Dark Arts Coffee

Dark Arts Coffee roasts from Rosina Street in East London, where its espresso bar, production and quality control share one site.

The team uses a light, modern roasting style and buys coffee as seasonal lots. Their line-up moves between clean washed coffees and expressive naturals, always with the focus on how the coffee tastes in the cup.
