Sourcing with Care

The endless pursuit of great coffee

This coffee comes from the Gasura Washing Station in northern Kirundo, Burundi. This region is known for its beautiful Arabica coffee, especially the red bourbon variety. Gasura works with around four hundred smallholder farmers who are part of the Terimbere cooperative, which means “Let’s Move Forward” in Kirundi.

The community places a strong focus on empowering women and involving them throughout the entire process, from planting the seeds to harvesting the cherries. The cherries are hand-selected and delivered to the washing station on the same day they are picked, ensuring freshness before fermentation and washing.

Gasura is one of only seven wet mills in the northeastern region, and their dedication to quality and community is a big part of why we love serving this coffee.
